The Meadowcroft Potager Garden is one of New English's first projects, and is sited on a grand, and exacting property in Greenwich CT. The client is a major proponent of regenerative gardening practices, and sought a potager garden to produce fresh, organic food for his family and friends.
The garden's custom, handmade gates are centered and on axis with an alley of hornbeams, just to the south of the front entrance of the home. The garden's enclosure is carefully planted with fruit trees, flowers, herbs, and pollinator plantings creating an edible landscape feature on the property. Generous, western red cedar 6x6 timber members are half lapped at the corner joints of the raised beds, neatly concealing hardware and the supply lines for an automatic irrigation system.
